Are You Truly Happy? I've noticed so many people "choking on small bones" because they major in the minors of life. You can tell a lot in a person by what causes them to get anxious, stressed, and discontent...missing out on genuine happiness. They are always tight, rude, abrasive, vindictive, and empty deep down in their soul. When someone is UNHAPPY with themselves, they usually create a problem with everything and everyone around them. For the most part, the happiest people don’t have the best of everything, but they simply make the best of everything. So what is HAPPINESS?
Happiness comes from advancing in maturity/understanding and from enlarging our spiritual maturity/depth. Circumstances that might make a modern person “unhappy” can lead a Biblical Christian to a state of true blessedness (happiness) by understanding God’s will and ways. Circumstances that lead to momentary tears can ultimately lead to worship and praise, knowing that God is in control of His ultimate plan. There is a difference between basing happiness on circumstances and possessions which can be taken away in a moment and basing happiness on faith/trust in the God who can never be removed from our life. Therefore, true happiness is based on the promises of God’s Word, humility before Him, and gratitude for all His blessings. There are many ungrateful and selfish people with sour attitudes roaming the earth because of an absence in spiritual maturity. If you don't have God deeply in your soul and are not anchored in His Word (Bible)....your happiness "if it comes" will be incidental (by chance). Separated from Him or having a casual/passive relationship with Him...you and your life lose their meaning.
In conclusion, HAPPINESS comes when you are walking in your God-created PURPOSE not in your self-created pleasures. With one you're totally FULFILLED and with the other you’re chasing your next temporary high that still leaves a VOID in your Soul. You're either going to do it God's way or you're not going to be happy. Chase HAPPINESS and you will end up miserable and discontent. Chase RIGHTEOUSNESS (God) and you will discover Happiness (Joy). The happiest people I know are evaluating and improving themselves. They made adjustments and never remain the same because they RiseUp from glory to glory in the fruit of the Spirit. Unhappy people are evaluating and judging others; it's all about them. Be so happy that when others look at you, they become happy too!
